The Ultimate Beatles Rolling Stones Mashup

The McJag?

In a super-group to beat all super-groups, surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have joined forces with the Rolling Stones? Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to form a music project currently entitled ?The Rolling Beat.? Consider it the ultimate Beatles Rolling Stones mashup.

The Rolling Beat will feature the four sexagenarians on instruments for which they are best known (McCartney on bass guitar, Starr on drums, Richards on guitar) with Jagger playing a second guitar and sharing vocal duties with McCartney.

According to rock historian Ian Billings of the New Guardian UK, this is the first time members from two separate historically-relevant groups have formed a single rock band from their respective members.

?The Traveling Wilburys are the only band on record to have come close,? said Billings, referring to the late 1980s project featuring Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and former Beatle George Harrison. ?This is a first and there really isn’t any group that’s comparable, nor will there ever be again.?

The Rolling Beat is said to be recording an album of original material, which will be released and supported by a worldwide tour in 2012.
